Million Dollar Idea

You know how, when you hear about a movie that you think you’ll like, you can go stick it in your netflix or blockbuster queue, right?

Well, I want the same thing for library books. I want a website where I can queue up books that I’m interested in reading. I want that website to be linked to my local library system’s database. When I’m finished with a book, I want to be able to pop it in my mailbox & have the mailman return it to the library for me. Then, when the librarian checks it in, she sends out the next book available in my queue. If it’s an interlibrary loan book, she could have the librarian at the other library do the shipping.

Now, to find a venture capitalist :D

Beautiful story about gay marriage

Jim’s been downloading & burning episodes of ‘This American Life’ again, for us to listen to in the car. The one that I was listening to on the way into work this morning was one called ‘A Little Bit Of Knowledge’. It’s available to listen to for free, online about half-way down this page.

The second story is an excerpt from Dan Savage’s (yep, the guy who writes the ‘Savage Love’ column for The Onion) book, ‘The Commitment’. It was an amazing story about his 6-yo son learning to accept the idea that his gay parents might marry some day. I can’t even begin to explain it - you’ve just got to listen to it. It was so sweet it made me cry.

I’ve got to get that book…
